Tripod’s BareNaked Ladies 2010 Calendar Release party

cover-smallThe Calendar release party has come and gone and what a smashing success it was.  With close to 200 people we rocked the the Ballena Bistro.  Thanks to the hard work of Chef Dave and Anja Sonnenberg who worked tirelessly to prepare a feast, a Brazilian dance band, a silent auction full of great items, and a caring community I would say it was the party of the year for Costa Ballena.  With pre sales, the party proceeds, and the auction we were close to our financial goal before the Calendars hit the streets.  You can purchase a calendar at Centro Veteranario, the Uvita Information Center, Mecado La Roca, or the Uvita Feria.

Dogs, Cats & … Monkeys?

Angel - Rescued baby howler monkey - howling!

The Tripod gals, Liz & Nat are on the move. As a result of the “Angel” experience, Tripod is now interested in a new aspect of animal rescue in Costa Rica’s southern Pacific zone: protecting wildlife from electrocution.

Liz & Nat made an appointment with the Coordinator of ASANA, a local ecological service, to discuss what can be done about this problem of animals being electrocuted by high power lines running through the jungle.   ASANA’s Ronald told Tripod that actually solving the problem could be a reality, but they would have to do some leg work.
